Raiding on Optimism Chain
Why Raid on Optimism?
RaidGuild has lived on Gnosis chain for over 3 years, so why change chains now? There are medium-sized reasons: Optimism has better on/off-ramps, more liquidity, more third-party providers and tooling, a bigger builder community, and a stronger and more aligned vision. By simply considering the user experience for members and clients on Optimism vs Gnosis, the benefit of switching seems obvious. However, there is a larger reason why members should consider raiding on Optimism: it is being used to fund a new and clearer legal structure for our DAO.
As part of a long-term RIP to improve RaidGuild's legal standing, a DAO has been created on Optimism specifically for collecting spoils from Optimism raids and using that revenue to fund the formation of much needed financial and legal web2 interfaces. This could include a new umbrella non-profit entity, a tradfi bank account, product-focused spin-off entities, web2 billing rails, or anything else that comes up in the future. The reason for keeping this funding on a separate chain and in a separate DAO is to keep bookkeeping separate, and to keep the initiative opt-in.
By raiding on Optimism, you are supporting an initiative for RaidGuild to play nicer with web2 institutions. This means we can receive grant money with greater ease, provide legal resources and protection for all members, create clearer and stronger agreements with other members and the guild, and start spinning off product DAOs that can give back to the guild without legal ambiguity.
While the funding (via raids) of this initiative begins now, the bulk of the initiative will unfold throughout the begining of 2025. At any point, if raiding on Optimism or forming a new legal entity no longer makes sense, the RIP with be spun-down and completely reverted.

How to Raid on Optimism
Starting a raid on Optimism is just as easy as starting one on Gnosis! Here are the steps for raiding on Optimism and joining the Optimism DAO afterwards:
- Use Smart Escrow while connected to Optimism
- If you don't know how to use Smart Escrow, start here
- Ensure the client understands that all transactions will be made through Optimism
- For the time-being, all payments must be made in native USDC (

)
- For the time-being, all payments must be made in native USDC (
- Ship the raid!
- When releases are made from the escrow, 10% spoils will be sent to the Optimism DAO automatically. Once spoils land in the DAO and the raid is shipped, you are eligible to join the Optimism DAO.
- Ensure that you also meet the "Memebership Requirements" mentioned here
- Request 1 voting share via DAO proposal
- Provide evidence in the proposal of Gnosis safe membership, and Optimism raid shipped
- Note that this share does not grant you rage-quit rights to any of the DAO funds (it is only for voting). This is in order to keep a clear "non-profit" status for the DAO until a legal entity is formed.
